When the sooperdooperLooper debuted in 1977, it was the second steel looping coaster in the United States (with the other being Revolution at Magic Mountain in California) and the first looping coaster on the east coast. It is one of the oldest surviving steel looping coasters to still offer lap bars instead of restraints.
